The leading flagbearer candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC) for the 2028 Presidential election, Dr Ibrahim Bangura, will this Saturday visit the party’s stakeholders, supporters, and thousands of Waterloo residents to share his vision with them.
During his visit, Dr Bangura is expected to interact with party faithful, stakeholders, and community leaders to reiterate his vision for a stronger and more united APC. His messages have always emphasized the importance of cooperation and collective effort in achieving the party’s goals.
Dr Bangura’s pending visit to Waterloo comes after his successful engagements in other parts of the country including Kambia and Port Loko districts. His emphasis on unity, discipline, and responsible leadership is expected to resonate with the party’s grassroots, potentially boosting his bid for the flagbearer position. He has been engaging with APC supporters countrywide, promoting unity and discipline within the party.
Last week, through the APC National Executive, he announced a contribution of NLe500 million to the APC Northwestern Region and an additional NLe1 billion to support the registration of party members nationwide. These contributions represent tangible milestones in the first phase of his campaign, designed to rebuild the party’s administrative systems, revitalize its grassroots, and usher in an era of disciplined and transparent governance.
As complementary support, assistance was also extended to the APC Young Congress, the APC Women’s Congress, and the National Union of APC Students (NUAS) — with 300, 300, and 100 bags of rice respectively. He also donated 500 bags of cement for the construction of a new party office in Kambia District, in addition to supporting the planned refurbishment of Bai Bureh Hall in Port Loko, a site of deep historic significance to the party.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura is an academic and politician who has gained significant attention for his potential candidacy in the 2028 presidential election. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, and has worked extensively in peacebuilding, governance, and development across Africa.
