The High Court of Sierra Leone has delivered a decisive victory for Kobi Walker, ruling that defamatory statements made against him by Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray were entirely false, malicious, and without lawful justification.
In a judgment that awarded NLe 250,000 in damages and NLe 50,000 in costs, the Court declared that all audio recordings concerning Mr Walker authored and published by Mr Mansaray amounted to libel.
The ruling sends a clear message: free speech does not protect deliberate lies, and defamation will not go unpunished. “This judgment is not just a personal vindication — it safeguards the future of our children,” said Mr Walker. “It signals that it will no longer be business as usual for those who defame innocent individuals. It ensures that future generations can aspire, achieve, and break ceilings through dedication, passion, commitment, and determination, without fear of being unjustly maligned.”
The judgment stands as a strong warning to those who weaponize falsehoods and reaffirms the principle that truth and justice will always prevail. It is hoped that the Defendant Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray will comply with the judgment of the court to avoid further consequences and contempt proceedings against him.
