One of the leading aspirants for the position of National Organizing Secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor, has vowed that if elected to that position during the party’s National Delegates’ Conference he will institute positive reforms that will make those who are in the party will not want to join any party than the APC.
As a strong and loyal member of the APC, Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor has been nurturing the dream of becoming the party’s National Organizing Secretary since 2013 when he contested for the said position during the convention held that year. Though losing that bid, that did not affect his zeal for the party as he was very instrumental in the 2018 campaign.
Many party operatives, including the grassroots, say that Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor played a vital role in restoring confidence in party after the 2018 elections, where they lost to the SLPP. He is said to be the first APC official to have visited the south-eastern region, the stronghold of the ruling party, to encourage APC members to keep the faith.
According to sources close to his campaign team, Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor is determined to organize and coordinate party’s activities at all levels; implement strategies for political campaigns and provide support for party candidates to win elections. He is also ready to facilitate the recruitment and registration of party supporters and sympathizers; identify, train and manage party activists and polling agents and organize both party and voter education exercises.
Kamara-Taylor’s interactions with the youth and members of the party are said to be excellent, as he commands respect among them. When he speaks, they listen and follow his advice. This, political analysts say, is the quality of a very good organizer.
Having held very responsible positions in the party, Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor stands a better position to put into action his skills and knowledge in handling matters professionally and this, they say, has been the reason for being loved by the party’s grassroots.
They stated further that election victory is by numbers, and Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor has the wherewithal to attract attention when he speaks to people. His humility and the professional way in which he presents his messages to people will lure many non-partisan Sierra Leoneans to the APC.
