In another significant development within Sierra Leoneโs petroleum industry, the Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Brima Baluwa Koroma, has officially unveiled another modernized retail fuel outlet belonging to NP (SL) Limited in the Kissy community, east of Freetown.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the NPRA Director General commended the Board, Management, and Staff of NP (SL) Limited for their unwavering commitment and remarkable efforts in strengthening the petroleum sector through improved product sufficiency and efficient service delivery.
He noted that the companyโs management โcontinues to leverage its rich history, heritage, success, and corporate culture to enhance public understanding, build trust, and further expand its business growthโ. He described NP (SL) Limited as โthe past, present, and futureโ of Sierra Leoneโs downstream petroleum sector, emphasizing the companyโs deep commitment to both the market and the country.
Baluwa Koroma further encouraged NP (SL) Limited to sustain its expansion drive and prioritize initiatives aimed at developing petroleum infrastructure, particularly storage facilities and retail outlets. He added that despite the growing number of operators within the industry, the Government remained fully committed to supporting NP (SL) Limited to ensure its continued growth, sustainability, and contribution to national revenue generation.
He also highlighted that NP had maintained its leading position over the decades and had transformed many of its operations through digital innovation, a move that continues to enhance the companyโs visibility and competitiveness across the African sub-region.
The NPRA Director General disclosed that the management of NP shared the vision of President Julius Maada Bio to ensure the accessibility of petroleum products to Sierra Leoneans, noting that the companyโs business model aligned with the Governmentโs development aspirations.
In his remarks the Chief Executive Officer of NP (SL) Limited, Ing. Mohamed S. Kanu, expressed delight over what he described as his โmaiden unveiling ceremony since returning to the countryโ. He briefly highlighted the companyโs achievements in Sierra Leone and outlined some of its strategic plans for the years ahead.
Ing. Mohamed S. Kanu further stated that his team remained deeply appreciative of the leadership, management, and staff of the NPRA for their continued support, cooperation, and commitment to the growth of the petroleum industry, particularly during challenging periods.
He disclosed that despite the increasing number of operators within the sector, NP (SL) Limited remained determined to maintain its position as a leading petroleum company, not only in Sierra Leone but across the sub-region. He stressed that the company would continue to remain proactive rather than reactive in responding to industry developments.
The CEO also revealed that, with the approval and support of the NPRA management, โNP (SL) Limited plans to construct five modern retail gas outlets nationwideโ.
