Abdul Akim Kamara, a 19-year-old, is reported to have been declared “Wanted” by the Sierra Leone Police for his alleged involvement in the 10th August 2022 riot in the capital Freetown.

He is alleged to be one of the ring leaders who incited other youths to take to the streets, which eventually led to the lynching of about six police personnel and the killing of scores of civilians.

The aftermath of what is now known as August 10th was massive arrest of persons mainly from the main opposition, the All People’s Congress (APC), which has culminated to the Sierra Leone Police now publishing a “Wanted List” of those who were believed to be behind it or to have taken part in the riot. Any of those, on this list, found by the police would be charged with treason, arson, or murder.

One of those who are reported to be on that “Wanted List” is Abdul Akim Kamara who, until he went into hiding, was living at No.60 Magazine, central of the capital, with some of his relatives and his son, Albert Akim Kamara Jr.

Despite Abdul Akim Kamara is said to be currently in hiding fearing for his life or of being charged with treason, arson, or murder; close family sources informed this newspaper that they have been allegedly coming under several threats from the police who are reported to be still looking for him.
