The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Ibrahim Tawa Conteh who is also the chairman of the Public Account Committee (PAC), has ordered the Committee’s Clerk to write a letter to the Accountant General to deduct NLe42,000 from the salary of the Director of the Malaria and Disease Control Programme, Dr Roland Suluku, for adding five enumerators without supporting documents.
In the implementation of a project, the Malaria Control Team was supposed to engage 18 enumerators but the retirement stated that 23 enumerators were trained and engaged for the execution of the project.
Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh then asked the Committee’s Clerk to do the multiplications of the monies given to the five undocumented enumerators which summed up to NLe42,000. He, therefore, concluded that the NLe 42,000 should be deducted from Director Sukulu’s salary for failing to provide adequate documents for those five additional enumerators.
This issue came up when PAC was probing the Ministry of Health and Sanitation on some of the issues raised in the 2023 Audit Report by Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL).
