On Tuesday, with the support of C40 Cities, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr engaged with the local media to discuss the Freetown City Council (FCC)’s Transform Freetown – Transforming Lives 2024-2028 Development Roadmap.
During the meeting, she provided updates on key initiatives, including FCC’s sanitation and waste management efforts, their climate crisis interventions, and the progress being made in respect of the Freetown Cable Car Project.
Mayor Aki-Sawyerr also shared insights about her global role as a C40 Cities Co-Chair.
“The media is more than just a conveyor of information. It remains a powerful catalyst for change. By leveraging this influence responsibly, we can tackle the defining challenges of our time especially in addressing the climate crisis both locally and at the global level. I encouraged the media, as essential partners, to actively engage with and amplify credible climate crisis reporting, shape public discourse, and inspire meaningful action,” she noted.
