The aspiration of Dr Ibrahim Bangura to be the 2028 Presidential candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC) was given a big boost last Saturday when he attracted one of the largest political gatherings in Waterloo, in the Western Area Rural District, where he had gone on a “Meet the People Tour”.

At the Bassa Town Field, where the “Meet the People Tour” was occasioned, Dr Ibrahim Bangura was greeted by thousands of APC supporters, youth groups, market women, community leaders, and bike riders who were waving red party flags and chanting APC slogans in unison.

He reechoed his message of peace, unity, and national cohesion; emphasizing that Sierra Leone must rise above divisions. “I want a country where every Sierra Leonean feels they belong – where we see one another as brothers and sisters,” he said. He stressed the need for a future where children could attend schools of their choice; where citizens could access quality medical care, and where people could travel across the country freely.

Dr Bangura also announced that his movement would soon embark on a national healing and unity campaign, aimed at repairing social fractures and strengthening national harmony. He reminded supporters that, “Sierra Leone is for every Sierra Leonean, regardless of tribe, region, or background.”

He concluded by calling for support for both his APC flagbearer bid and his long-term presidential ambition, and pledged to protect the votes of APC supporters in the 2028 elections.
