Lawyer Ady Macauley, one of the flagbearer aspirants of the All People’s Congress (APC), last Saturday (15 March 2025) provided 60 bags of rice, sugar, oil, and NLe10,000 as “Iftar” to his maternal village in Masimra in the Masimra Chiefdom, Port Loko District in north-western Sierra Leone.
The event took place at the main Court Barray, at Masimra Town in the Masimra Chiefdom, and was witnessed by the Chief Imam of Masimra Town Alhaji Musa Turay; the Honourable Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Mems; the Councillor Haja Musu Bangura; the Youth Leader Santigie Caesar Koroma; the APC Constituency 071 Chairman S.A Tholley, and local chiefs as well as members of secret societies.
Speaking after the donation, Lawyer Macauley described the gesture “as a surprise” but went further to say that “it was not”. He noted that his family including his mother, who hailed from Paite-Fu Kalongo village in the Masimra Chiefdom, had always been providing to their maternal village during festive periods like Christmas, Easter, and Ramadan with the little they had.
He added that his mother, Ambassador Kadie Bassir, “is even constructing a school at Paite-Fu Kalongo village as one of the legacies she wants to leave”. He disclosed that apart from that he too had “also contributed to the construction of the town’s roundabout in collaboration with Councillor Haja Musu Bangura, Hon. Mems, and the youth.”
The former Anti-Corruption Commissioner also spoke about his willingness to support in the construction of a Community Centre which, he said, the Masimra community had long been yearning for and had requested him to support them in that. The project, he added, would be on a self-help basis as he would be providing the financial as well as technical support, while the community would be providing the labour.
Receiving the items, the community thanked Lawyer Ady Macauley, noting that if he could muster the courage to do such as an ordinary citizen, then they were hopeful he could do a thousand times if he becomes flagbearer of the APC and eventually President of Sierra Leone.
In his remarks, the Chiefdom Youth Leader Santigie Ceaser Koroma welcomed the APC flagbearer aspirant. He said he was not surprised at the gesture of goodwill, adding that Lawyer Macauley and his mother had always supported Masemira and visited the chiefdom regularly.
The MP and Councillor for Masemira, Hon. Mems and Haja Musu, also welcomed the kind gesture. They encouraged all “Masemirans” to support Lawyer Ady Macauley in his quest to clinch the APC flagbearership.
Prayers were offered by the Chief Imam, Alhaji Musa Turay.
