The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Ibrahim Tawa Conteh  who is also the Chairman of the Public Account Committee (PAC), has agreed with his fellow PAC members to contract a third party auditor to verify the National Revenue Authority (NRA)’s Report that was audited by Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) for the Financial Year of 2023.

The Committee Chairman, when probing into the NRA-ASSL 2023 Report, revealed that NRA had challenged the ASSL auditors that they had missed every number in the ASSL Report for 2023. “So therefore, PAC will contract a third party auditor who would verify the forensic audited report line by line even if it cost NLe100 million, PAC wouldn’t mind to pay”, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh  said.

He noted that NRA had given PAC a Report and that ASSL had also presented theirs to PAC and that the variances in the NRA Report alone were more than NLe33 million. He said it was against this backdrop that the Committee would write a Concept Proposal to the Secretary to the President to ask for an independent auditor to verify both the ASSL and NRA Reports to see which one  was correct.
