Ambassador Omrie Golley has launched a significant renovation project for the All People’s Congress (APC) office in Pujehun District, following the damage incurred during the 2023 General Election.

He announced an initial funding commitment of Le500,000,000 (Five Hundred Million Leones—old Leones) to support this initiative.

The launch event, attended by numerous supporters and local leaders, was hosted by Mohamed Amadu Sesay (Dr Hool) District Chairman of the APC in Pujehun District.

The ceremony gathered distinguished guests, including District Executive Chairmen from Bo, Moyamba, Kenema, Kailahun, and Bonthe, alongside senior party members and former ministers from the APC’s previous administration.

Chairman Sesay highlighted the history of the party office, tracing its establishment back to the early 1980s under the late Paramount Chief A.J. Kaikai, who donated the land for its construction. He reflected on the high-profile attendees of the original ceremony, emphasizing the significance of the APC in the region.

Speakers at the event praised Ambassador Golley’s ongoing support and commitment, with APC District Chairmen from the Southeast expressing admiration for his leadership and contributions to the renovation project.

Young Congress leader, Mohamed K. Swaray, a former parliamentary candidate for Pujehun District, expressed gratitude for Golley’s focus on youth engagement and shared optimism about the APC’s revival following recent political challenges.

Ambassador Golley’s personal assistant, Abdul Malik Bangura, introduced him as a key speaker, noting his developmental initiatives in the country.

In his keynote address, Ambassador Golley emphasized the need for peace and national unity, urging APC members to work together harmoniously. He also discussed his commitment to addressing hunger in Sierra Leone through agricultural interventions, aiming to educate farmers on maximizing their land use.

For the renovation project, Ambassador Golley committed Le500,000,000 with an initial disbursement of Le250,000,000 to commence the work. He encouraged party members to contribute to the project in any capacity they could.

He also presented a new 6 KV Kama generator to the party office in Pujehun, reaffirming his commitment to supporting local APC members and officially declaring the renovation project open.

Issa Soko, the District Publicity Secretary, facilitated a donation drive during the event, allowing party members to pledge support for the initiative.
