Mohamed Ormodu Kamara, popularly known as “Jagaban”, has assured members of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Ohio, United States of America, that the party will rise again as Sierra Leone is now being ruled by people who have no business in political offices.
Jagaban, who is a businessman and philanthropist based in the United States of America, said: “Sierra Leone needs politicians with strong characters, passion for the country’s future but those who are now running it are only interested in improving their bank accounts”. He noted that, “the country needs leaders as politicians and not politicians as leaders”, and urged the APC faithful not to trade their integrity for favour or anything.
Mohamed Ormodu Kamara told them that any mistake they make today would affect them for the next five years, adding that Sierra Leone “is currently going through difficulties due to the fact that people who are occupying sensitive offices have no business being there”.
On the issue of the APC ongoing registration and verification of its membership which has already sparked mixed feelings among supporters and sympathizers, Jagaban encouraged them to take their time in electing the next set of leaders in order to enable them to achieve the party’s political objectives.
He stated that, “everybody wants to be a leader without the fear of Allah and passion for the people they want to govern”. He added that, “we all love the APC but it is time to stand up against the wrong things that are going on in the party”.
He also spoke about his business and the level which it had been now, providing jobs for and assistance to Sierra Leoneans in and out of America. He disclosed that he came from a humble background and went through the crucibles of life.
Mohamed Ormodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, made those remarks at the inaugural and fundraising event of the newly-elected APC executive of the Ohio-USA Chapter last Saturday at the Ohio School for the Deaf Alumni Association Education Center, Columbus Ohio.
Continuing, Jagaban commended the organizers for according him such an opportunity to talk on the topic: “Leadership in Politics”, and wished the new executive best of luck.
The Guest Speaker, Abie Sangarie, said the strength of the APC had always been its unity and diversity. She noted that at the moment, they could not achieve their aim with such division in the party.
Madam Sangarie stated that the APC needed peace now than ever as that would be the only means to take the party to State House and eventually achieve greatness. She encouraged and urged all to be ambassadors of peace in order to gain power as she strongly believed that the party would rise again.
Abie Sangarie urged party faithful not to continue to forward audios that were destroying the party by injecting disunity in the party.
The APC Ohio Chapter President, Abass Koroma, explained that the event was part of the preparation to State House.
Mr Koroma noted that the APC was one family and encouraged the party to strengthen all the Chapters and develop strategic plans to support the National Executive and strengthen the party’s financial and membership drive.
He called on the party future leaders to make a decision that would shape their future and the future of Sierra Leone, failing of which would affect them. He also encouraged them to foster peace and unity which was “the mantra of the APC for a better future”. He emphasized that the Ohio Chapter had always served as a pillar for the party.
