The President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, departed Sierra Leone on Tuesday to attend the Continental Conference “Amplifying African Narratives in Climate Justice: Empowering Journalists to Advance Africa’s Just Transition Realisation” taking place in Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire from the 4-5 September, 2024.
The conference, organized by the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) in partnership with Monidaal FNV and Oxfam, aims to foster a more accurate and constructive portrayal of climate issues, highlighting innovative solutions or realising just transitions measures in Africa. It will also create a platform of knowledge exchange and learning on climate justice, advance storytelling and reporting skills in order to help shift the narrative from disaster to opportunity and resilience.
The SLAJ President is scheduled to speak on “Strategies for Engaging Policymakers and Promoting Climate Justice with Emphasis on Just Transition” alongside Ms Solange Ayanone from Rwanda.
