For the past 15 years, Hon. Dr Michel Sho Sawyer has been doing annual philanthropic donations of scholarships and food provisions to various parts of the country.
But this year, he decided to extend the donation to the entire Western Region, the East District, the West District and the 20 All People’s Congress (APC) constituencies providing food provision and financial support “to say Thank You to our comrades for their sacrifices while pushing for unity in our party”.
Last Sunday, at the Vine Memorial School, Congo Cross in Freetown, the Western Region executive, along with executive members of the East and West District, attended the Hon. Dr Sho Sawyer Annual Philanthropy Donation Drive.
This gathering was one of the few occasions in which the Western Region leadership and their members came together to discuss unity, progress, and the actions needed to build a strong foundation for the APC.
In her statement, the Mayor of the Freetown City Council (FCC), Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, reminded the party faithful that, “If we want to go far, go together. Let’s put our differences aside and use this as a turning point to move forward.” She also highlighted the Freetown National Development Plan, which aims to provide 120,000 jobs in the city for women and young people.
During his keynote address the National Secretary of the APC, Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, reiterated his position on the 2023 election results, stating that the elections were stolen from the APC and that they had proof of that.
He emphasized unity, action, and progress; announcing a party meeting this week to decide the way forward post-Tripartite Committee. He encouraged members to support the party’s decisions.
Other speakers included members of the Western Region, West District Chairman, East District Chairlady, the National Deputy Publicity Secretary, Lawyer Ady Macaulay, and Members of Parliament from the East and West Districts.
The Western Region expressed its gratitude to Hon. Dr Michel Sho Sawyer for his “significant step in bringing us together and supporting our membership during these challenging economic times in Freetown”.
