A team of police personnel from CID headquarters and the Military Police has reportedly raided and searched the homes of Mohamed Amusa in the eastern city of Kenema and Hawanatu Amusa in the northern city of Makeni in relation to investigations of the 26th November 2023 failed coup.

Some reports claimed that those are the homes of the son and daughter of Alhaji Amusa, one of the alleged coup plotters, who was said to have been shot and killed by loyal security forces that foiled the coup on that day.

On 27th November 2023, police personnel from CID headquarters and the Military Police were said to have raided and searched the home of Mohamed Amusa. After the search, he was reportedly arrested, allegedly beaten mercilessly, and bundled into a waiting truck. It is claimed that while he was being taken to the capital, Freetown, he miraculously escaped into a nearby bush at a village between Kenema in the east and Bo City in the south.

Two days later, CID headquarters reportedly issued a Warrant of Arrest for him indicating that he might have some vital information pertaining to the failed coup. But unconfirmed reports say he has reportedly fled to neighbouring Guinea where he is said to be currently in hiding.

But even in Guinea, Mohamed Amusa will not be safe from the Sierra Leonean security authorities as Sierra Leone and Guinea have an Extradition Treaty. Though he is said to be still hiding in that country, he might be apprehended and extradited to Sierra Leone to face treason and other charges.
