Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Wednesday 15 November  2023 launched the Makolo-Mabang Road construction project at a simple but colourful ceremony at Songo Town.

Speaking on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio, who was unavoidably absent, Dr Juldeh Jalloh told the gathering that his boss’ dream of connecting the entire country through roads was gradually coming to fruition.

The Vice President expounded on the importance of roads, saying that they were connecting the country, enhancing access to energy and easing internet connectivity for improved work performance.

He reminded the people of the commissioning of the Ella Koblo Gulama Bridge in 2022 by President Bio and his promise to them of paving the road leading to the bridge, adding that yesreday’s launching was a fulfillment of that promise.

Dr Juldeh Jalloh lauded the efforts of the European Union in actualizing the government’s development aspirations, and heaped special praises on the EU Head of Delegation in Sierra Leone, Ambassador Manuel Mueller, for his unflinching support to the people of Sierra Leone.

He assured the people that the Mabang Road would be extended to Shenge and other parts of the country.

Earlier, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Kenyeh Ballay, dilated on the crucial role her Ministry was playing in crafting the development paradigms of the government of President Bio.

She thanked staff of the National Authorizing Office, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, and other partners for their relentless efforts in mobilizing funds for the actualization of the road construction. She expressed her desire to see the road connect to Shenge.

The Director General of NAO, Ambrose James, delved into the beginning of the road construction, tracing it to the construction of the Magbele and Mabang Bridges and the remaining funds from the said projects that were now used for the construction of the road.

Speaker after speaker praised the EU and the Government of Sierra Leone for the road construction.
