Stakeholders in Tonkolili District, north-west Sierra Leone, have informed the Executive Director of Health Alert, Victor Lansana Koroma and his team, that the Magburaka Government Hospital and other surrounding Community Health Centres (CHCs) could not boast of a functional ambulance for the past months now due to lack of engine oil.

They made that revelation at the Tonkolili District Council conference hall during a stakeholders’ engagement with Health Alert to promote social accountability in the health sector as well as to increase domestic financing to support health service delivery countrywide.

Stakeholders also informed the Health Alert team that the mortuary at the Magburaka Government Hospital was currently dysfunctional with the management claiming that it was so because the hospital was being renovated.

In his response, the Health Alert’s Executive Director, Victor Lansana Koroma, promised to engage the Ministry of Health’s hierarchy to find out why the delay in repairing the mortuary and as well as the non-availability of funds to buy engine oil for the ambulance.
