This press has investigated a matter involving one Abibatu Jalloh whose whereabouts are still unknown.
Our investigations, according to family sources, reveal that Abibatu Jalloh decided to flee from Sierra Leone because she was facing serious harassment and intimidation from her close family members who are members of the Bondo Society and want her to undergo Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
The Bondo Society in Sierra Leone is notorious for FGM which has caused many women sleepless nights and disastrous endings that resulted in deaths.
However, Abibatu Jalloh since she came to understand that her grandmother had made plans for her to take over the Bondo Society as “Head Sowei”, she fled because the ritual involves cutting of her clitoris.
Despite she has reportedly fled the country; Abibatu Jalloh is still being sought after by senior members of the Bondo Society.
