In an extraordinary and exclusive interview, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Kweku Lisk, the esteemed running mate of Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, the mayoral candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC). During our conversation, we delved into Lisk’s background, his inspiring vision for Freetown, and the compelling reasons behind his alliance with Aki-Sawyerr.

As someone who hails from Freetown’s Western Area urban Murray Town, Kweku Lisk’s passion for sports ignited during his formative years. Growing older, Lisk not only remained actively involved in football administration but also carved a name for himself as a corporate lawyer. Beyond his legal expertise, he has made significant contributions to the philanthropic sector, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in Sierra Leone.

Kweku Lisk’s journey commenced at The Sierra Leone Grammar School, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. His dedication and commitment eventually led him to become the managing partner of BMT Law Chambers, where he specializes in corporate matters, property claims, and land issues. Through his extensive involvement with numerous organizations, including Friends of Super, Lisk’s influence has reached far and wide. Notably, he served as the personal lawyer of the late famous Moseray Fadika and played a pivotal role in bringing African Minerals to Sierra Leone. Even after Fadika’s unfortunate passing, Lisk has carried the torch for positive change, passionately leading the Friends of Super initiative.

During our conversation, Kweku Lisk shed light on the profound significance of AWOL (All Works of Life) and its transformative impact on Sierra Leone. As the former chairman of AWOL and a close collaborator of the Late Moseray Fadika, Kweku Lisk has firsthand experience of the organization’s profound philanthropic endeavors. He firmly believes that transparency and accountability form the bedrock of Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr’s Transform Freetown agenda. With dedication, Kweku Lisk pledges to be a resolute advocate for the people of Freetown, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed.

Naturally, comparisons have arisen between Kweku Lisk and Mohamed Gento Kamara, the mayoral candidate for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and another influential figure in Sierra Leone’s business realm. While acknowledging Gento’s connections and his standing as a political businessman, Kweku Lisk emphasizes his own expertise in corporate law and commitment to Sierra Leone’s development. He staunchly advocates for government contracts to be awarded based on administrative skills rather than mere connections obtained through lobbying. Unlike Mohamed Gento Kamara, who secures contracts through political ties but lacks the necessary administrative acumen for the day-to-day activities of Freetown, Kweku Lisk’s involvement in AWOL and Friends of Super demonstrates his dedication to community service and his drive to usher in positive change.

Directly addressing the residents of Freetown, Kweku Lisk urges them to recognize the remarkable achievements of Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr and make their voting decisions based on competence rather than superficial considerations. With transparency, accountability, and doing what is right at the heart of their agenda, Kweku Lisk emphasizes the necessity for Freetonians to unite and rally behind Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr’s transformative vision. Together, they can ensure that the legacy of progress continues for the benefit of all

The decision for him to join forces with Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr as her running mate stems from the party’s pursuit of competency, reliability, and a proven track record of positive change. It is evident that Aki-Sawyerr and Kweku Lisk are the most fitting candidates for the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, respectively, for Freetown.

In conclusion, the transformative vision presented by Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr and Kweku Lisk holds the promise of a brighter future for Freetown. Their dedication to transparency, accountability, and community service sets them apart from their political counterparts. As Freetonians, let us recognize their remarkable achievements and join forces to ensure that progress continues to flourish in our beloved city.
