The All People’s Congress (APC), through the new District chairman of Tonkolili, Dr Samuel Bangura, last Saturday summoned a stakeholders’ meeting at the Magburaka party’s office in the northern region of the country.

The meeting was held to discuss issues surrounding the party’s progress and to consolidate its gains and map-out strategies to win the June 24 elections on the first ballot.

Those in attendance were former and immediate past Councillors, District Chairmen/women, former and current Members of Parliament, former and current party officials, unsuccessful contenders for the various positions, affiliate bodies, head of traditional bodies among others.

Dr Samuel Bangura explained that they were at the end of the political calendar and that the meeting would enable them to understand themselves, adding that they could not leave the people to hold personal opinions which might affect the party.

He also responded to those who were asking whether the district was owned by the APC or the district owned the APC; to him, all the answers were correct. He noted that it was all the reasons to make the district great again after five years of neglect by the current government and that they had every reason to support the APC as a district because no other party had ever considered them with goodies as done by the APC.

The Tonkolili District chairman concluded that the only party they had was the mighty APC, adding that they should respect each other’s opinions while supporting their aspirants because at the end of the day they all they needed themselves to win the June 24 general elections.

The Member of Parliament for Constituency 048, Hon. Aaron Aruna Koroma, explained to members on how the Proportional Representation (PR) System works and also how they must come together for them not to lose any seat to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

Hon. Aaron Aruna Koroma dilated on the struggles of the party before getting to where they were now. “Therefore, we should pay keen attention to the growth of the party and how to win this year’s multi-party elections”, he said.

According to the president of the APC Young Congress, Prince Brima Tholley, people should follow the party’s structures and stop threatening to leave the party if they were not awarded the party’s symbol were.

Other stakeholders also made statements.
