Abu Mansaray, has quietly distributed WASH materials, sanitary pads and other school materials to the pupils of the Ahmadyya Muslim Secondary School at Pepel in Kamasondo Chiefdom.
The distribution, according to the team, is to improve on education and sanitation in that part of the country.
They informed The Nationalist that the donated items cost about one hundred thousand New Leones, adding that the intention for the distribution was to encourage girls to stay in school especially those who have reached puberty and also to improve hygiene.
They said in the same vein, they also organized a one-day workshop and distributed books with the title: ‘Growth and Changes for Girls in the country”.
Team Abu Mansaray explained that the books contained topics that could educate the girls on Menstruation and Care Givers (Who to Talk To) when experiencing it.
The team thereby dilated on the importance of the various items to the beneficiaries, adding that before the donation they collected firsthand information on the causes and changes in their bodies.
According to them, they teach the pupils about puberty and how to keep themselves clean in and out of school, saying that it was significant for them to have such empowerment.
