The leading flagbearer aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Samura Kamara, yesterday assured delegates of the East District executive in the Western Area Urban that he would not follow the footsteps of President Julius Maada Bio if he becomes the APC presidential candidate and eventually be the Head of State of Sierra Leone.

Addressing APC faithful at the Eastern Paddies Entertainment Centre in Freetown, Dr Samura Kamara said if, “by God’s willing,” he assumed the leadership of the country after the June 24 Presidential Election he would not unlawfully remove Sierra Leoneans from their jobs because of their regional origins or because “they are perceived to be members of a political party”.

He also told the APC faithful that under the current Bio-led administration, “Sierra Leone is a no man’s land as the current government lacks enlightened leadership to bring everyone onboard irrespective of tribe or regional origin”.

Dr Samura Kamara reminded delegates that 2023 would be a decisive year as it would give majority of Sierra Leoneans the opportunity to choose between the continuation of rapid economic decline and someone who was actually capable of fixing the Sierra Leone economy. He said instead of improving the wellbeing of Sierra Leoneans generally, the leadership of President Bio had brought untold hardship to majority of citizens.

“As delegates, you should not misplace the trust given to you by your constituents. Therefore, while choosing your leaders at District, Regional and National levels; and the eventual flagbearer, remember that your utmost duty is to redeem the suffering masses of this country on June 24,” Dr Samura Kamara stated.

He concluded by encouraging the party faithful to rescue Sierra Leone by choosing him as the next president of the country; vowing to bring all ethnic groups together to move the country forward unlike the current leadership of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
