The Hon. Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament, Sidie Tunis, on Tuesday convened the first Parliamentary Seminar of the year 2023 in Bissau, Guinea Bissau, on the theme: “ECOWAS Common Currency and the Inter Bank Payment System as Promoters of Regional Trade.”
The seminar was declared opened by His Excellency Umaru Sissoco Embalo, President of the Republic of Guinea Bissau and current Chairman of the ECOWAS – Cedeao Authority of Heads of State and Governments.
The parliamentary seminar is intended to enlighten members on the conditions for strengthening convergence and macroeconomic stability in the region and would also provide a greater insight into the coordination of economic policies, as well as the development of a payments system for the Member States to facilitate their economic integration.
It will also address all the other challenges members are determined to meet, to achieve the single currency by 2027, as announced.
